Frequently asked questions
Do I need special settings to print PLA Silk?
No special settings are required. Recommended temperature: 200–230°C, bed at 60–80°C. Silk PLA is more viscous than standard PLA, so slightly slower speeds improve the finish.
Does the gloss finish remain after printing?
Yes, the silky and shiny effect is permanent and requires no additional treatment. Avoid sanding the surface to preserve the finish.
Is Silk PLA compatible with entry-level 3D printers?
Yes, it is compatible with any 1.75mm FDM printer, including Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Anycubic, and Elegoo, with no upgrades or enclosure required.
How should I store PLA Silk filament?
Store in an airtight bag with desiccant in a dry place. Moisture absorption can reduce brightness and cause bubbles during printing.
