☀️ ASA – Filament 3D

Filament 3D's ASA is an engineering filament created for demanding applications, offering high resistance to UV rays, weathering, and wear. It is ideal for outdoor parts, automotive components, functional supports, and prototypes that require durability and dimensional stability.

🔹 What makes ASA special?

  • UV and weather resistance — maintains colour and properties in sun, wind, and rain.
  • High durability — superior to ABS in outdoor use.
  • Dimensional stability — lower risk of warping in functional parts.
  • Fully compatible with 1.75 mm FDM printers, including Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Elegoo, Anycubic, Artillery, Flashforge, and FLSUN.
  • Diameter: 1.75 mm ± 0.03 mm

✅ Advantages

  • Excellent for prolonged outdoor use and harsh environments.
  • Good mechanical and chemical resistance.
  • Can be sanded, painted, and glued for a professional finish.
  • Great option for automotive parts, urban furniture, signage, and robust prototypes.

⚙️ Printing Parameters

  • Extrusion temperature: 240 – 260 °C
  • Heated bed: 90 – 110 °C
  • Heated chamber: recommended for large parts
  • Layer fan: off or low (0–20%)
  • Speed: 40 – 70 mm/s

💡 Notes and Recommendations

  • Due to thermal contraction, prefer an enclosed printer to minimize warping.
  • Drying before use: ~80 °C for 4–6 h to eliminate moisture.
  • Use high adhesion surfaces (textured PEI/3DLAC) and brim/raft on long parts.

Frequently asked questions

What types of parts is ASA recommended for?

ASA is ideal for parts exposed to the outdoors: automotive supports, signage, drones, electrical boxes, and any application subject to sun, rain, or temperature variations.

Does ASA need a closed printer?

A closed chamber is recommended to minimize warping, especially for large parts. The bed should be heated between 90 and 110 °C, and the layer fan should be reduced or turned off.

What is the delivery time for mainland Portugal?

Orders to mainland Portugal have an estimated delivery time of 2 to 4 working days after payment confirmation. Shipments to islands and other European countries have different delivery times.

How to prepare ASA before printing?

Dry ASA at 80 °C for 4 to 6 hours before use. Always store in an airtight bag with desiccant, as this material absorbs moisture quickly.
