Prusa CORE One INDX: The 8-Nozzle Toolchanger That Changes Everything
Prusa Research and Bondtech opened pre-orders on April 24, 2026 for the INDX system — a revolutionary toolchanger with up to 8 independent nozzles, induction heating, and near-zero waste. Desktop 3D printing has reached its most advanced level ever.
Prusa CORE One+ with Bondtech's INDX system — pre-orders open since April 24, 2026.
What is Bondtech INDX?
The INDX is not just another filament switching system like the MMU or AMS. It is a new 3D printing architecture. Instead of pushing different filaments through the same nozzle, the INDX allows for up to 8 passive print heads to be stationed and ready for simultaneous use.
The magic happens in the active Smart Head, the only component with electronics. It moves, grabs the desired nozzle, and heats it instantly via magnetic induction — exactly like an induction hob. When the nozzle is parked, it cools down in seconds, with no plastic strings or clogs.
This is a collaboration between two leading European companies: Prusa Research (Czech Republic) and Bondtech (Sweden), global leaders in extrusion systems.

The 5 Major Advantages of the INDX System
⚡ Ultra-Fast Induction Heating
The Smart Head heats the nozzle from zero to printing temperature in seconds. No heat block, no oozing when parked.
♻ Zero Waste
Only 13 milligrams of filament wasted per tool change — less than a grain of rice. Goodbye purge towers and filament "poops"!
🧰 Unlimited Material Mixing
PLA + TPU supports, PETG + soluble PVA supports, carbon fiber + normal materials — all in the same part, without clogs.
🔍 Different Nozzle Sizes
0.25 mm for fine details and 0.8 mm for fast infill in the same print. Compatible with 0.25 to 1.0 mm nozzles.
🤖 Self-Adjusting DX Extruder
The drive gear automatically adjusts force according to the material — from super soft TPU to carbon fiber Nylon.
🎯 20× Faster Calibration
New eddy current calibration system outside the print area. 15 seconds per nozzle, instead of hundreds of seconds on the XL.
The INDX 8-tool kit — 8 spools loaded, 8 materials ready to print simultaneously.
INDX vs. Traditional Single Nozzle Systems
❌ Single Nozzle Systems (MMU / AMS)
- Must purge old material before each change
- Purge tower can weigh more than the part itself
- Cross-contamination between materials
- TPU clogs in shared hotends
- Impossible to use different size nozzles
- Limited to filaments with proprietary RFID chips (in some cases)
✅ INDX Toolchanger
- Each nozzle has its own path — no purging
- Near-zero waste (13 mg per change)
- No cross-contamination between materials
- TPU, PVA, Carbon Fiber and PETG in the same part
- 0.25 to 1.0 mm nozzles in the same print
- Compatible with any 1.75 mm filament
Prices and Available Configurations
The INDX is sold as a conversion kit for those who already own the Prusa CORE One+. Two versions are available for order directly on the Prusa website:
| Version | What it includes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| INDX 4-Tool Kit | Smart Head + 4 passive tools (hardened 0.4 mm CHT nozzles) + mounting hardware + spool holders | ~669 € / $699 |
| INDX 8-Tool Kit | Smart Head + 8 passive tools (hardened 0.4 mm CHT nozzles) + mounting hardware + spool holders | ~899 € / $899 |
The 4-tool kit is the entry-level version — you can always add 4 more nozzles later.

Is it Worth the Investment?
If you frequently do multi-color or multi-material prints, the INDX pays for itself in the medium term. In complex parts, filament waste in a conventional system can easily exceed the weight of the part itself — and with the INDX, this problem disappears completely.
Furthermore, the ability to use water-soluble supports (PVA/BVOH) or easily removable TPU supports opens doors for engineering designs that would be impossible — or a nightmare of clogs — in a single-nozzle system.
Prusa and Bondtech have just raised the bar for desktop 3D printing to a truly professional level. The "endgame" of 3D printing has arrived.
